Today (Saturday November 1) the community will come together to stand in solidarity with survivors of intimate partner violence at the Second Annual Community Walk to End Intimate Partner Violence.
The event is hosted by Luke’s Place, Bethesda House, Denise House, Herizon House, YWCA, WMRCC of Durham, Victim Services of Durham, with support from Durham Region. This community event raises awareness, builds connection, and calls for action to end gender-based violence, said the organizers.
The event will start at Durham Region Headquarters at 605 Rossland Road East in Whitby from 10 am. The walk begins around 10:20 am and lasts some 45 minutes.
Program highlights include remarks from community leaders, indigenous opening ceremony and the walk through Whitby to show visible community support.
Launch of a 53-ft truck bringing IPV Awareness
Earlier last month, Ajax Council and Big Rig Wraps launched a 53-foot Stop Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) transport truck. This truck was to travel across Durham and Ontario for two years to bring awareness to intimate partner violence and call for intervention and prevention.
