Covid Update: One death, 95 new cases, 56 recover

Durham Health yesterday posted 95 new Covid-19 cases for March 22, taking the region’s tally to 13,105 since the count began on February 29.

It also posted 169 variants cases.

There was one new new non-LTC (long term care) covid death in Whitby taking this month’s toll to eight. There were 11 covid deaths in February, 45 in January, 53 in December and 5 in November. Durham’s overall death toll stands at 305 with 217 of them occurring in LTCs.

There were:

  • 27 new cases in Pickering
  • 31 in Ajax
  • 17 in Whitby
  • 18 in Oshawa
  • 8 in Clarington

Recoveries stand at 12, 210 (12,154), up by 56. There are 590 active covid cases.

Twenty-eight cases are hospitalized with 12 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 562 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 3,812 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Total – 305              LTC – 217

Of the 99 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTC
Of the 51 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Forty-seven deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 52 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
Sixteen deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
Sixteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
No deaths have been reported in Brock
