Driver ‘educated’ after child let free in car having a drink

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has zero tolerance when it comes to ensuring child safety – in any situation.

Its Traffic Services arm ensures the same on Durham roads.

That is why its vigilant officers last week ‘educated’ a driver who let a child roam free in the vehicle.

“A 6 year old child was observed without booster seat or seatbelt and facing backwards out the sedan as she sat on her knees,” said a tweet from the police.

“The driver felt it was okay as their child was just having their drink,” it explained.

Police said the driver was educated and charged.

“Buckle up, it could save your life and their life,” it added.
