Driver critically hurt after car rolls over into field

Durham Police yesterday said a 66-year-old male driver is in critical condition after a single motor vehicle collision in Uxbridge.

On Sunday, May 14 at about 5:20 pm, officers from North Division responded to a report of a vehicle rollover on Regional Road 1 north of Foster Drive.

A black Dodge Journey had been travelling northbound on Regional Road 1 when it lost control and rolled into a field on the side of the road, said a police statement.

The male driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma hospital where he remained in critical condition.

Alcohol may have been a factor in this collision, police said.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Anyone with information about this incident or who witnessed this collision is asked to call D/Cst. Kollaard at 905-579-1520 ext. 5267.
