Man charged with 1987 sex assault of minors, released

Durham Police yesterday said a 66-year-old male has been charged in connection to a historical sexual assault involving minors.

On April 6, the Durham Regional Police Special Victims Unit commenced an investigation after a victim came forward to report historical sexual abuse. The allegations date back to 1987 and involve more than one minor.

The Oshawa-based suspect has been charged and was released on an undertaking, said police.

Investigators want to ensure there are no further victims. Anyone with information in relation to the accused is asked to contact police as soon as possible.
