DRPS Canada-wide warrant for mom who ‘abducted’ her child

Durham police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a 41-year-old woman accused of abducting her child and taking him out of the country.

According to police, the investigation began last August after a report of parental abduction involving a five-year-old boy. The child’s mother allegedly took him to Colombia and has refused to return him to Canada, in violation of a custody order.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe return of the child to Canada and to his father. The mother is now wanted on a charge of abduction by parent or guardian in contravention of a custody order, police said. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Marchand of the Central West Criminal Investigations Branch at 905-579-1520 ext. 1829.

Editor’s Note: Durham Post does not name or identify the accused as:
1. Of this time, they are suspect[s] and not convicted by a court, and
2. Sometimes charges are amended or dropped.
