Durham police reported that a G2 driver in Whitby learned the hard way that it is the law to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
The driver forced a group of teenagers to jump out of the way to avoid being struck and was given a $365 fine as a reminder to slow down and yield.
Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) have taken action against several drivers in recent traffic enforcement operations targeting dangerous driving behaviors.
According to social media posts from Durham police, one driver was pulled over in the area of Stevenson Road South and Bloor Street West after being clocked at 134 kmh in a 50 kmh zone.
Officers charged the driver and impounded his vehicle for 14 days, warning the public that stunt driving is dangerous and has consequences.
In another incident, North Division traffic officers conducted enforcement in the Blackstock area. A driver was charged for traveling at 107 kmh in a 60 kmh zone and for performing a stunt.
The charges resulted in a 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day impoundment of the vehicle.
