DRPS sends well wishes to slashed police officers

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) offered well wishes to the two Toronto Police officers who received slash wounds in a knife attack while on duty yesterday.

Chief Rollauer and members of DRPS wished them a full and speedy recovery.

Meanwhile, Toronto Police said a man has been arrested and charged with the attempted murder of two Toronto police officers.

On Tuesday, February 2, at 9:45 am, officers attended the area of Westona Street and Dixon Road for a follow-up investigation on a missing person.

It is reported that four officers entered a residence to canvass for a missing person. While the officers were in the common area of the residence, a man armed with a butcher knife attacked the officers, two of whom sustained serious injuries. Both officers were taken to hospital by Toronto Paramedics.

Both officers have since been released from hospital and recovering at home, said a police statement.

It said the man wielding the knife was taken into police custody without injuries. Ahmed Al Farkh, 33, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with:

1. two counts of Attempt Murder
2. four counts of Assault With A Weapon
3. two counts of aggravated assault of police officer
4. Weapons dangerous
5. Assault Intent to Resist Arrest
