Drug investigation nets 250 rounds of ammo

A street-level drug investigation resulted in the seizure of over $13,000 in cash and drugs, as well as 250 rounds of ammunition, police said.

In December 2020, members of the Central East Division Community Response Team initiated an investigation into a male suspected of selling fentanyl and cocaine in Bowmanville. On January 14, with the assistance of the Central West Community Response Team, K-9 and East Division, the suspect was arrested without incident in Bowmanville.

As part of the investigation, officers seized over $13,000 in Canadian currency and drugs (hashish, fentanyl, oxycodone and cocaine) as well as 250 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Officers also seized several knives, a replica handgun, an expandable baton, a canister of bear spray and a weigh scale.

Jake Hillier, age 25, of Liberty Street in Clarington is charged with: Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) x2; Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (oxycodone); Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Hashish); Possess Weapons Dangerous x2; Fail to Comply- Breach OIC Undertaking x4; and Fail to Comply- Breach Probation x3. He was held for a bail hearing. A photo of some of the items seized is attached.
