Durham police arrest 17-year-old following armed carjacking

A 17-year-old male is in custody following an early morning armed carjacking in Bowmanville, according to Durham Regional Police Service(DRPS).

Police say the incident occurred around 4:45 am on Saturday, April 26, in the area of Clarington Boulevard and Prince William Boulevard. A man delivering newspapers was sitting in his vehicle at a delivery stop when he was approached by two masked individuals, one reportedly armed with a firearm.

Following a brief foot pursuit, police apprehended one of the suspects. The second suspect remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.

A 17-year-old male from Ajax was charged and held for a bail hearing.
