Durham travel advisory in effect over significant snowfall

Environment Canada has issued a winter travel advisory for today (Thursday) following forecast of the first significant snowfall in a few weeks.

It projects heavy snowfall locally with total accumulations of 5 to 10 cm. Snow will begin Thursday morning and end by Thursday evening.

There will be reduced visibility in heavy snow with strong northwesterly winds gusting up to 70 kmh Thursday evening into night.

Environment Canada said travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas, it advised.
