Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is urging residents that as we head into a busy holiday weekend, police chief, Peter Moreira, has a reminder for everyone to plan ahead for a sober ride home.
It pointed out that the Ride team has seen a 20 per cent increase in impaired drivers over last year.
“This is unacceptable. Plan ahead. Don’t drive impaired. If you suspect an impaired driver, please call 911,” it said.
Last Tuesday, Chief Moreira and Police Service Board Members Welch and Woo joined the Ride line.
Within two minutes of starting the spot check, a driver was issued a three-day licence suspension.
Chief Moreira reminded everyone to call 911 if you suspect a driver is impaired.
This driver will need a new licence
Meanwhile, DRPS Central East Division said a G1 driver (top image) will be asking for a new drivers licence, money to get his vehicle out of impound and money for an insurance policy for Christmas.
The person was caught speeding and stunt charges, plus others, were laid last week.
No further details were released.
The Region of Durham has again cautioned drivers that when the weather outside is frightful, adjust your driving accordingly. Driving too fast for conditions is an example of aggressive driving!
