Durham Region is considering expanding its Durham Greener Homes program to help residents reduce the impact of severe weather on their home or property.
This can include reducing the impact of basement flooding, wind damage, and heat stress, it said adding that it is looking for input from residents who own or rent their home to help design the program.
The Durham Greener Homes Weather-Ready survey is part of a broader engagement strategy with local area municipalities, residents, community groups and industry, supporting residents in being ready for severe weather. Take the online survey to help shape the future program, it urged.
The survey is open October 21 through November 29.
The Durham Greener Homes program helps Durham residents make their homes more energy efficient while saving money. Since the program launched in April 2022, more than 1,600 residents have signed up to take advantage of services including personalized advice from expert energy coaches, financial incentives, and tools to lower energy consumption, make their homes more comfortable, reduce utility bills, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The program is delivered by Windfall Ecology Centre. Visit DurhamGreenerHomes.ca for more information.
