Impaired driver, firearms taken off Durham streets

A 37-year-old impaired driver faces numerous charges after police seized a firearm during a traffic stop in Whitby.

On Friday, September 30 at about 2:12 am, members of Central West Division conducted a traffic stop in the area of High Street and John Street West in Whitby.

The driver of the vehicle was found to be impaired by alcohol. The driver was then arrested and police seized a loaded firearm and drugs in his possession, said a statement.

The suspect from Oshawa was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Foot Patrol seizes shotgun

Officers arrested a male and seized a shotgun (top image) in Oshawa on Wednesday morning.

On September 28 at around 10 am, members of Central East Division while conducting foot patrol near Albany Street and Albert Street arrested a male suspect on an outstanding warrant. During the investigation, officers located a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition.

The suspect of No Fixed Address was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
