Man passed out in car… impaired five times over limit

There have been reports of electric car drivers asleep on the wheel, but this man in Clarington had at least the sense to pull over when waves of sleep/unconsciousness threatened to overcome.

Unfortunately, Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers found the driver, and took the motorist in for a breath analyzer test.

“Last (Tuesday) night officers from DRPS Central East Division responded to a male who had passed out in his vehicle in Courtice,” said a police tweet.

“The 33-year-old male was arrested for Care and Control and provided two breath samples where his results registered five times the legal limit,” it pointed out.

Police has regularly launched awareness campaigns to urge motorists not to drive impaired.

Anything over the legal limit is unacceptable and this driver was five times over. Great work by our members here in DRPS Central East Division to ensure roadway safety, said a tweet.

When will this end?? It’s never ok. Do not drink and drive, added DRPS Traffic Services

Meanwhile, North Division officers caught a motorist speeding 80kmh in a 50kmh zone in Udora.

[It] is too fast and will cost the driver $220 and four demerit points, said the police adding: “Please obey the speed limit”.
