Man tried to rob store with a brick and knife

A 37-year-old suspect was arrested after an armed robbery at a convenience store in Bowmanville overnight.

On Monday, September 26 at about 5:25 pm, members from East Division responded to an armed robbery at the Kings Milk convenience store on King Street East. The suspect, armed with a brick and a knife entered the store and made a demand for cash. A struggle ensued with the store employee and the suspect was held upon police arrival. A customer assisted the clerk in restraining the suspect, said a police statement.

The male clerk sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries, he was transported to a local hospital.
