Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) K-9 Unit has had two successful tracks under its collar in recent days.
In the first instance, PC Wes King, K9 Klutch and DRPS Central East Division tracked a distraught, suicidal male who fled from a hospital.
“After a 3-km track through a golf course, Klutch located the shirtless male waist deep in a freezing creek,” said a police tweet.
Officers talked the male into a peaceful surrender, it added.
Suspect ‘greeted’ by Flex as he fled out the back
In another incident, PC Handscomb and K9 Flex assisted with the arrest of a male wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant.
While under observation, the perpetrator broke into residence. When alerted about the police presence, he attempted to flee out the back, but Flex was there to ‘greet him’.
He was quickly apprehended, said another police tweet.
