Serial break and enter suspect caught in the act

A 44-year-old suspect is facing numerous charges for breaking into homes in Durham and was arrested while committing a break and enter in Uxbridge.

On Friday, March 18, members of Central West Division responded to four separate break and enters in Brooklin. With the assistance of video surveillance from the victim residences, investigators from North Division Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify the suspect, said a police statement.

On Sunday, March 20 at about 4:45 am, investigators located the suspect exiting a home in a gated community on Wyndance Way in Uxbridge after committing a break and enter. The DRPS K-9 Unit assisted with the arrest.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries due to a dog bite, police said.

The suspect is responsible for numerous break and enters in Durham and York Region since January. The arrest was a result of teamwork between the DRPS Divisional Criminal Investigations Bureau at 15, 18 and19 Division, DRPS K-9 Unit, YRP Air2 and investigators from York Regional Police.

Facing 30 charges

The suspect from Ajax, is facing 30 charges including: Break and Enter; Mischief Under $5,000; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000; Breach of Probation; Breach of Release Order and Trespass at Night.
