Woman critically hurt as crash driver remains on scene

A 44-year-old Pickering female suffered critical injuries after she was struck by a vehicle in Pickering overnight.

On Monday, March 21, at about 9:12 pm, members of West Division were called to Amberlea Road and Miranda Court for a female pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle while she crossed the road, said a police statement.

The 44-year-old victim was reportedly stuck under the car and was released and later transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with critical injuries.

The driver of the involved vehicle was uninjured and remained on the scene, police said.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
