A 20-year-old male has been arrested for a FaceBook Marketplace theft in Oshawa.
On Wednesday, November 20, members of Central East Division said they responded to a theft in the area of Hillcroft Street and Ritson Road South. The suspect met the victim under the premise of purchasing jewellery the victim had posted for sale on FaceBook Marketplace.
The suspect took the jewellery and attempted to flee on foot. The victim was able to chase the suspect and retrieve the jewellery. The suspect brandished a knife on the victim and fled the area prior to police arrival.
On Friday, February 7, the suspect was arrested by members of the East Crime Team.
A 20-year-old male, of Scarborough was charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
A Criminal Code Search Warrant has led investigators believe there may be additional victims. The man used the aliases.
