Stay away from fire-hit Bowmanville buildings, warns mayor

A warning has been issued to people using King Street West in downtown Bowmanville to stay away from the buildings that were damaged in an early morning fire on Thrsday March 6.

In a video address released yesterday,  Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster, said authorities were worried about the stability of the buildings.

He also pointed out that fencing is being put to cordon off access to the affected areas of the south side of King Street West. The north side and the rest of the downtown remains open to foot traffic.

“To be safe respect the fences,” Foster emphasized.

He pointed out that parking in downtown Bowmanville is free and urged visitors to support the businesses in the downtown .

He praised the “awesome community” which has come together to help the businesses and people impacted by this tragedy
