Metrolinx moves to expropriate land for GO train extension

Metrolinx, the operator of GO Transit, has announced that an application has been made for approval to expropriate some lands and interests in Oshawa as part of the overall project to extend the GO train to Bowmanville.

The approval authority is the Ministry of Transport, Ontario.

Metrolinx said the approval to expropriate lands in the City of Oshawa is “for the purposes of constructing and operating the Lakeshore East Line GO Expansion (Bowmanville GO Rail Service Extension) Project and all works ancillary thereto as well as potential future disposition in furtherance of Metrolinx’s statutory objects…”

It has also set out a date “to take possession and expiring no later than December 20th, 2030”.

The lands mentioned focus on Simcoe Street South, Hall Street and Farewell Street.
