One new covid death brings Durham toll to 185

Durham Health yesterday reported a new covid-related death —  the third in November. It also posted 44 new covid cases for November 29 bringing the region’s total to 4,480 cases since the count began on February 29.

Recoveries stand at 3,837, up by 53. There were 458 active covid cases in Durham.

  • Thirty-six new cases in Whitby
  • Nineteen in Ajax
  • Thirteen in Oshawa
  • Six in Pickering, and
  • Two in Clarington
  • Twenty-one cases are under investigation

Sixteen cases are hospitalized with two in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 442 people in home isolation.

Deaths so far total 185, of which 155 were in long term care homes (LTCH). The last covid-related death was announced on November 25; and previous to that, on November 10.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 1,381 in Ajax, followed by 1,107 in Pickering.

Death Toll: One new death in Whitby

Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 39 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Five deaths were reported in Whitby, one in LTCH
Of the 23 reported deaths in Oshawa, 15 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
