Oshawa passes by-law amendment to allow 408-unit tower

The City of Oshawa said it has approved zoning by-law required to build a 25-storey apartment tower with 408 units.

The purpose of By-law 145-2024 was to change the zoning for the lands located at 13, 15 and 29 Charles Street from UGC-B to UGC-B(5).

The effect of By-law 145-2024 is to permit the development a new 25-storey mixed-use building containing 408 purpose=built student rental apartment units and 3,323 square metres (35,770 sq. ft.) of commercial floor space.

The project has site specific regulations related to increased residential density, maximum building height and gross floor area of retail floor space, and reduced minimum interior side and rear yard depths and reduced parking for student housing.
