Plan for a May-October outdoor market + car wash

The Town of Ajax is looking to pass a temporary by-law to be able to hold an outdoor vendor market around the empty lands at Blowers Crescent.

The area in question is the lands known as 10, 20 and 30 Blowers Crescent. Currently the lots are empty with only the Institute of Diabetes & Endocrinology sitting at 40 Blowers Crescent.

The lands are currently zoned as a “Local Commercial (LC) Zone”. This does not permit an outdoor vendor market. The town is looking to change the zone to temporary use of land, for a period not exceeding three years. The town may, through a by-law, grant further periods of not more than three years.

The proposed Outdoor Vendor Market can be used for the sale of goods directly to the people, where outdoor vendors operate on a temporary basis from booths, tables, stands, tents or similar portable structures.

The proposed Outdoor Vendor Market shall be permitted to operate between May 1st and October 31st.

If no objections are received by 12 pm on Friday, June 19, the Town of Ajax will proceed to pass the Temporary Use By-law on Monday, June 22.

If objections are received by 12 pm on Friday, June 19, then a public meeting will be held on Monday, June 22, at 1 pm.
