Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said four men are facing charges in connection with a robbery at a Telus store in Oshawa.
Investigators have since determined that the woman who initially entered the store was also involved in the robbery. She remains outstanding.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 30, around 12:30 pm, when officers from East Division responded to a robbery in progress at the Telus store located at 1300 King Street East.
According to police, the robbery began when an employee opened the door for a woman believed to be a customer. At that point, three male suspects rushed into the store, assaulted the employee, and attempted to access the store’s safe by forcing him to the back of the premises. Unable to gain entry, the suspects fled the scene before officers arrived.
A fourth suspect, police say, was waiting nearby in a silver Honda CR-V. The group fled westbound on King Street in the vehicle.
Shortly afterward, the suspects were located by Peel Regional Police and taken into custody. All four were transported back to Durham Region and held for a bail hearing.
Police describe the suspect as a Black female, about 15 to 24 years old, 5’5″ tall, with a slim build and black hair. She was last seen wearing a white hooded sweater, black pants, and white and black Nike sneakers.
No physical injuries were reported by the employee.
A 21-year-old male, of Kitchener, a 24-year-old male, of Quinte West, a 22-year-old male, of Waterloo, and a 26-year-old male, of Toronto were all charged. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
Police did not say whether the suspects were held for bail or released for an undertaking.
