Scugog Arts gets $153,000 Resilient Communities Fund grant

Scugog Arts has received a $153,000 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

The two-year grant will enable the local arts group to keep building for the future by developing a new strategic plan and hire a Program Director to continue delivering the arts programs that local artists and residents enjoy and rely on.

“Our government believes organizations like the Scugog Arts Council enrich the lives of the people in the Township of Scugog and the Region of Durham, and play an important role in building a strong and prosperous economy in Ontario,” said Todd McCarthy, MPP for Durham.

The Resilient Communities Fund program was designed to help non-profit organizations and small communities build on their sustainability and move forward from the impact of the pandemic. Scugog Arts will be putting this grant to work by hiring a full-time Director of Programs to focus on new strategic plans for 2025 through to 2027 that will help generate revenues for its festivals and other activities, and to coordinate new marketing initiatives to build more awareness of exhibitions as well.

“Scugog Arts is thrilled to accept this grant on behalf of our arts and culture community. Building on our strengths with a new strategic plan and executing our programs with a goal to making them different, better, and special is essential to our role as our community’s creative hub,” Marion Meyers, President of the Board of Scugog Council for the Arts.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) mission is to build healthy and vibrant communities across Ontario. As an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations, last year, OTF invested over $110M into 1,022 community projects and partnerships.
