Stay at home to #StoptheSpread

With the latest modelling data showing Ontario’s health care system is in crisis and with the declaration of a second provincial state of emergency, Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter has urged everybody to follow the Ontario government’s stay-at-home order to stop the transmission of Covid-19.

“These are extremely challenging times for everyone but now more than ever we need to do the right thing by staying home, staying safe and saving lives,” said Mayor Carter.

In his video message, Mayor Carter urged community members to continue to follow health authority guidelines and government orders.

“We demonstrated the strength and resilience of our great city during the first wave of Covid-19 and we can do it again. Mask up, maintain physical distancing and follow the stay-at-home order. If you have a cell phone, download the Covid alert app,” said Mayor Carter.

“Video chat your family, text your friends, call your neighbours and those around you who are isolated. Let’s keep talking to one another and we will come through this trying time together,” added Mayor Carter.

The city continues to post updates to its webpage at www.Oshawa.ca/Coronavirus. Visit the webpage for the latest updates on changes to services and programs, as well as frequently asked questions and resources, said a city statement.

Community members concerned about their health related to Covid-19 are asked to use the Ontario Covid-19 self-assessment tool or book an appointment at the Durham Region Covid-19 Assessment Centre.
