Teen arrested with loaded handgun in Pickering school

Durham Police investigators have arrested a teen after police located a firearm in a Pickering high school on Tuesday.

On November 9, police attended St. Mary Catholic Secondary School on Whites Road for a matter not related to the school when they located a loaded firearm in the possession of a student. The loaded firearm was seized and the youth is facing numerous charges, said a police statement.

The young person is charged with: Carry Concealed Weapon; Unlicensed Person Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon; Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License; Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm and Possess Firearm. He was held for a bail hearing.

The statement did not say of the teen was a student at the school.
