This driver felt police ‘unfair’ in stopping him for going 45-over

DRPS Traffic Services come across all kinds during any given day, but still manage to get surprised with some of the responses officers receive from drivers.

“This driver felt police were ‘unfair’ for stopping him for going 45 over as he felt he had to speed up to pass traffic… going over 150 per cent of the speed limit will never be tolerated. Share the road and respect other road users, said the police from Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) West Division.

Street location was not revealed.

“I can tell you traffic was already about 10kmh over the limit, as is often the case. Some drivers are selfish, some feel they are justified for various reasons… neither case is valid. Everyone deserves safe and shared roadways,” said the officer involved with the stop.

North Durham blitz

Meanwhile, the DRPS Traffic Services team conducted an early morning aggressive driving enforcement campaign in the North Division, especially in Scugog.

They laid over 20 charges for excessive speed, stunt driving, unsafe moves and more.

Please share the road and slow down, police said.
