Traffic Update: Road restrictions across Durham

There are upcoming road restrictions in the Town of Whitby, the City of Oshawa as well as the Municipality of Clarington.

Whitby: Durham Region is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions on Stellar Drive (Regional Road 25) in the Town of Whitby from June 15 to July 15.

Lane restrictions will be in place on Stellar Drive, from 850 metres west of Thornton Road South (Regional Road 52) to one kilometre west of Thornton Road South, to safely install water services and construct new entrances in support of new development.

Clarington: The region warned of upcoming lane restrictions on Regional Highway 2 in the Municipality of Clarington’s community of Courtice.

These will be day and night from June 15 to July 31 on east and westbound lanes on Durham Regional Highway 2 from Prestonvale Road to Trulls Road in Courtice.

Restrictions are need to safely restore concrete sidewalks and curbs.

The region said unfavourable weather conditions may impact the road works schedule.

It realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.

Oshawa: The city announced a road closure of Centre Street South for Fiesta Street Celebration.

Oshawa Folk Arts Council will be hosting its annual Fiesta Concert and Street Festival downtown on Sunday, June 21 from 8am to 7pm.

Closures will be on:

  • Centre Street South between King Street West and John Street West.
  • Metcalfe Street between Centre Street South and Simcoe Street South.
