Two armed adults, two teens invade home, assault owners

Durham Police yesterday said two adults and two youth have been arrested after a home invasion in Oshawa.

On Tuesday July 16 at about 10:40 pm, members of Central East Division responded to an armed person call at a residence in the area of Ritson Road South and Valley Drive.

Multiple males forced their way into a residence assaulting one of the home owners, while brandishing firearms. The suspects proceeded to the basement of the residence where another resident of the home was assaulted. The suspects demanded money from the victims before fleeing the area in a stolen vehicle, said a police report.

It said the first victim sustained serious injuries, the second victim sustained minor injuries, and the third victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

Police searched the area and located the stolen vehicle a short distance away. The suspect vehicle was tracked driving toward a dead end before all suspects fled on foot. Officers, with the assistance of Air1 and the K9 Unit, located four suspects, who were taken into custody.

A fifth suspect is outstanding.

A man, age 36 of no fixed address and another age 28 from Toronto, were charged. A 17-year-old male, and a 16-year-old male, both from Toronto, were also charged.

All were held for a bail hearing. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
