Durham Police yesterday said two females and four males have been charged after a male was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint in Oshawa.
On Monday, December 11 at about 5:20 pm, members of Central East Division responded to an armed robbery in the area of John Street East and Simcoe Street South in Oshawa.
The victim was at a local business when he was approached by a female who took the victim’s phone and demanded he exit the business. Once outside the victim was surrounded by four other suspects, assaulted, and robbed at gunpoint, said a police statement.
The victim managed to get away, fleeing to a nearby park. All suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Officers tracked the suspects to a residence in the same area where a perimeter was set up. Six individuals exited the residence and were taken into custody without incident. A search warrant was sought and executed for the residence resulting in the seizure of a loaded firearm, police said.
Suspects range in age from 17- to 37-year olds. Four are from Oshawa, one from Brampton and one with no fixed address. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
All parties were held for a bail hearing.
