A 43-year-old Toronto man is facing multiple charges following a police pursuit in Oshawa early Sunday morning, according to Durham Regional Police.
On June 1, at about 1:55 am, members of the Tactical Support Unit were travelling eastbound on Highway 401 when they observed a vehicle being driven erratically. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle exited the highway and fled north on Stevenson Road South.
Police say the vehicle was monitored by Air1, the police helicopter, until it came to a stop in a green space near Simcoe Street South and Valley Drive. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was tracked by Air1 and taken into custody by ground officers.
A 43-year-old male, of Toronto, has been charged. Police did not say whether the suspect was held for bail or released for an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
