Weekend full closure of Simcoe Street South in Oshawa

Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has issued a notice announcing the full closure of Simcoe Street South from August 26-28.

The ministry has retained Brennan Paving and Construction Ltd. (BPCL) to replace the Simcoe Street South and Albert Street overpass structures along Highway 401 in Oshawa.

As part of the construction operations, BPCL will be implementing a weekend full closure of Simcoe Street South from First Avenue, south to Bloor Street and including the Highway 401 westbound on-ramp.

Closure is scheduled to start Saturday, August 26 at 6 am until 6 am on Monday, August 28

It is needed to perform excavation and installation of a structure and 900mm storm sewer crossings across Simcoe Street.

Southbound traffic on Simcoe Street will be detoured at First Avenue. Northbound traffic will be detoured at Bloor Street. Lviv Boulevard will be closed with local traffic only.

Appropriate signage will be installed prior to the closure date to notify the travelling public of the closure’s date and times. All detour routes will be clearly outlined by the appropriate detour signage to guide traffic, said a city notice.
