Woman held for fraud after impersonating a nurse

Durham Police said a 25-year-old female from Oshawa  is facing several fraud charges after impersonating a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).

On Wednesday, March 8, members of the Major Crime Fraud Unit made an arrest in the investigation of a female suspect applying for jobs as a RPN with fraudulent documentation.

The suspect had documentation from various governing bodies which she claimed were hers. The suspect is not registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, said a police statement.

Since 2021, the suspect was employed as an RPN by at least four senior retirement and long-term care residences throughout the GTA, it said.

She was held for a bail hearing.

A photo of the suspect is being released as investigators want to ensure there are no further victims. Name and further details are available at www.drps.ca.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Tisi of the Financial Crimes Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5279.

Editor’s Note: Durham Post does not name the accused as:
1. Of this time, they are suspects and not convicted, and
2. Sometimes charges are dropped or changed.
