Year-long lane restrictions on Simcoe Street South

Following the full closure of Simcoe Street South during the past weekend, the Regional Municipality of Durham is now advising residents and businesses of year-long lane restrictions on the Oshawa street.

These will be in place from today, September 11 to fall of 2024. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule, the municipality said.

It said north- and south-bound lane restrictions will be in effect on Simcoe Street South, from Olive Avenue to Metcalfe Street. One lane of traffic will remain open.

This work is part of the Simcoe Street South Road Reconstruction/Rehabilitation project. To address aging and deteriorating infrastructure, the Region of Durham will be replacing watermains and sanitary sewers. This project also includes road rehabilitation and storm sewer replacement.
