$11K raised as ages 7–82 paddle the Nonquon in Scugog race

The 55th annual Canoe the Nonquon event took place on Saturday, June 7, drawing paddlers of all ages and skill levels to the winding waters of the Nonquon River. Hosted by the Scugog Shores Museum, the popular community race welcomed 163 participants in 105 vessels, including 57 canoes and 48 kayaks.

This long-standing event serves as a fundraiser for the Scugog Shores Museum Village. Thanks to community support through sponsorships, donations, merchandise sales, and pledges, this year’s event raised $11,000 to support the museum’s operations and programming.

  • First-time competitors: 37 vessels
  • Farthest travelled participant: St. Albert, Alberta

Special awards:

  • Jack Kane Memorial Award: Caleb Ritchie, recognized as the youth showing the most effort. Caleb also raised the most funds for the museum.
  • Allene Kane Memorial Award: Lee and Dawn Pantridge, named most memorable racers.
