$15,000 PetSmart grant to boost adoptions at OAS

Oshawa Animal Services (OAS) stated they have received a $15,000 grant from PetSmart Charities of Canada to further support animal adoptions in Oshawa.

The grant funds will assist with costs related to veterinary care, sheltering, supplies, marketing, and technology. OAS stated that they aim to facilitate more than 400 pet adoptions through its partnering PetSmart stores during a year-long adoption campaign.

It is estimated that about 100,000 pets make their way into shelters each year in Canada. In partnership with PetSmart Charities of Canada, OAS stated that they will bring adoptable pets to Oshawa and Whitby PetSmart locations in support of National Adoption Week, from March 24 to 30.

According to the statement, PetSmart Charities of Canada’s National Adoption Week is a special time when PetSmart stores feature adoptable pets, with staff and volunteers on hand to facilitate introductions and answer questions. Potential pet parents can also learn about the products and services needed to help ensure a successful transition for their new furry family members.
