63-year old in life threatening condition after head-on crash

Durham police yesterday said one male remains in life-threatening condition after a collision in Clarington.

On Sunday May 17 at about 12:07 pm officers from East Division responded to a head-on motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles at Trulls Road, north of Prince Rupert Drive.

A black GMC pick-up truck was driving southbound and a grey Chevrolet SUV was driving northbound on Trulls Road prior to colliding head-on.

The 63-year-old male driver of the pick-up truck was transported to a local hospital where he remains in life-threatening condition, police said.

The 48-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet SUV and two passengers were transported to a local hospital where they have since been medically cleared, it added.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. At this time, it appears the collision could potentially be the result of a medical episode, however the investigation remains ongoing.
