The ongoing legal strike action by Canada Post workers applies to urban, rural, and suburban mail carriers and may lead to mail delivery delays throughout Durham Region.
Although Canada Post continues to operate, residents and businesses are advised that disruptions could impact the timely delivery and receipt of important items. Both the City of Oshawa and the Regional Municipality of Durham have outlined service impacts in the event of continued postal delays.
A nationwide overtime ban by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers is now in effect, following the expiration of their agreement with Canada Post on May 22.
Regional impacts
The Region of Durham has also advised that a Canada Post disruption would halt the mailing of notices, Ontario Works (OW) cheques, and bills. Likewise, the region would not be able to receive incoming mail.
Residents can view the full list of affected services by visiting Durham’s Service Impacts webpage.
Oshawa service impacts
