Back-to-School: That was not so cool, say police

It was the first day of school for many. Number one priority is always to look, act and be cool at school, said a police alert.

“Leaving the parking lot and accelerating rapidly to a speed that is a marked departure from the posted speed limit, is not the way to do this!” said DRPS Traffic Services, after impounding the offender’s car (top image).

Durham Regional Police yesterday issued a Back-to-School Road Safety Reminder.

“With students heading back to class, we’re reminding all drivers to slow down, stay alert, and watch for children crossing the road.

“Our officers are out in school zones this week conducting enforcement to help keep kids safe. Please do your part—drive with care, obey posted speed limits and put your cell phones down.

Let’s make sure everyone gets to and from school safely!” DRPS said.

DRPS North Division too alerted the public that its officers will be out in community safety zones reminding drivers to slow down, watch for kids crossing, and keep our school zones safe.
