Bowmanville Boat Launch to reopen in the fall

Work on restoring the Bowmanville Boat Launch has been delayed as the municipality adheres to the guidelines and restrictions for in-water works set out by the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry.

These restrictions are in place to protect fish from the impact of any work during critical times, including spawning migrations, said a municipal statement.

“We apologize for the delay and understand the vital role the Bowmanville Boat Launch plays in the community by providing easy access to Lake Ontario. It is widely used by residents, boaters, and visitors. However, the boat launch is in disrepair and poses a safety risk for people and boats. Work on restoring the boat launch will start as permitted in late summer, potentially reopening in the fall.”

The Bond Head Boat Launch in Newcastle is open and available for use, it added.

“Thank you for your patience. This project is a priority and will be completed as soon as allowed.”
