Spring recreation registrations at Clarington and Oshawa

The City of Oshawa and the Municipality of Clarington have announced registrations for spring recreation programs.

In Clarington, they will open on March 5, at 7 am for residents. According to municipal officials, registration will be available for swimming lessons, group fitness classes, 55+ Active Adult programs, and other recreation activities for all ages.

Officials encourage residents to review available programs in advance at www.clarington.net/BeActive, where users can create an account, save preferred programs to a wish list, update their profiles, and find additional details.

Steps for Registration:

  • New users: Create an account.
  • Forgot password? Request a password reset.
  • Update profile: Ensure all family members are listed on the account and contact details are current.
  • Swimming lesson placement: Use the Learn-to-Swim guide to select the appropriate level. Residents can also visit a Public Swim session for an assessment by a lifeguard.
  • Browse programs: Save preferred programs to the wish list for quick registration on March 5.

Oshawa

The City of Oshawa registration for spring recreation programs is open for spring swimming lessons and  all other programs, including arts, sports, dance, music, and fitness.

Due to the South Oshawa Community Centre Pool Reconstruction Project, spring aquatic programs will not be offered at this location. City officials stated that additional programs will be available at Civic Recreation Complex, Delpark Homes Centre, and Donevan Recreation Complex.

Registration Details

According to city staff, registration is available online and in person but not by phone. Service Oshawa is available to assist with questions.

Officials advise those interested in fitness programs to purchase a fitness membership and group fitness add-on before registration to access program benefits.

Steps to Prepare for Registration

  • New users: Create an activeOshawa account.
  • Forgot password? Request a password reset.
  • Existing users: Activate accounts for online use if not already done.
  • Registering family members? Ensure they are added to the account.
  • Uncertain of swim level? Visit a recreation facility during public swim or call Service Oshawa at 905-436-3311 for an assessment.
  • Email updates: Contact activeOshawa@oshawa.ca.

Completed registrations will appear under “My Courses” → Pending Courses and will temporarily show as a credit until an invoice is generated. According to city officials, invoices for confirmation and payment may take several hours. Once processed, credits will be applied, and registrations will move to “Current & Future Courses.”

Accepted online payment methods:

  • MasterCard, American Express, Visa, and Visa debit
  • MasterCard debit and American Express debit are not accepted

City officials stated that immediate confirmation of enrollment will be provided once the transaction is complete.

For faster service, officials recommend printing and completing the registration form in advance.
