Clarington has announced a new park as well as a major revamp of some of the parks in the municipality.
It said the newly constructed Brookhill Park includes a fully accessible play pod with playground equipment. The play pod is enclosed by a new concrete curb edge with ramps and engineered wood fibre surfacing.
The play pod is complimented by a shade structure, site furnishings, and various landscape features and vegetation. Brookhill Park opened in late summer 2023.
Guildwood Park
The rehabilitation of Guildwood Park included the complete removal and replacement of two existing tennis courts.
The existing chain link perimeter fence, asphalt surface and nets were removed and replaced with all-new infrastructure.
The courts were finalized with an application of a new acrylic coloured coating. The project is 100 per cent complete and open to the public.
Park Signs
Developing a new design for Clarington’s park signs was initiated by the requirement to provide park identification signage at various newly constructed parks within the municipality.
The requirement for a new standard became apparent as the current standard is dated and appears out of place in newly constructed parks within new neighbourhoods.
In addition, many existing park signs also require replacement and the old standard is difficult to source, manufacture and install, the municipality said.
