Large amount of stolen jewelry recovered from maid’s home

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has arrested a female cleaner in Bowmanville, Clarington, following an investigation into multiple thefts.

A large quantity of stolen jewelry was recovered from her residence. Police believe the suspect may have targeted older clients and are seeking additional victims.

The investigation began in September by members of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch. The female suspect was operating as a self-employed cleaner under the business name.

Investigators believe the suspect leveraged her position to gain access to clients’ homes, specifically targeting older-aged clientele, to commit thefts and break-and-enters.

On Friday, October 10, police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in Bowmanville. During the search, officers located and recovered a large quantity of jewelry believed to be linked to multiple criminal incidents.

A female, age 41, from Clarington, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name, company name, photo and further details are available at www.drps.ca.

Police have concerns there are additional victims who may have hired her or her company.

Anyone who hired the suspect to clean their home and believes they may be a victim of theft is urged to contact D/Cst. Cronin of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1649.
