Ex-KPRDSB staff charged with historic sexual assault

Durham Police yesterday said a 35-year-old education assistant has been charged with sexual assault stemming from an incident at a Durham Region school in 2018.

In August, members of the Special Victims Unit started an investigation after a victim came forward. As a result, investigators arrested a former education worker on Wednesday, September 21. This incident took place at a Durham Region elementary school in 2018. The name of the school is being withheld to protect the victim’s identity, said a police statement.

The suspect of Baltimore, Ontario, is charged with Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference. She was released on an Undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

The accused was an employee of the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPRDSB) from 2010 to 2021, and is no longer employed by a school board. Investigators want to ensure there are no other victims.
