Free part-day holiday parking in downtown Oshawa

The City of Oshawa yesterday announced free on-street holiday parking in downtown Oshawa as a means to support small and family-owned businesses in the downtown.

Clarington has announced all-day free parking in downtown Bowmanville (see below) to encourage local shopping.

“The City of Oshawa is offering free on-street parking in the downtown starting at noon daily from Monday, December 11 up to and including Monday, January 1. Parking will be free all day on December 25, 26 and January 1 due to statutory holidays,” said a city statement.

Fees for on-street parking still apply between 8 am until noon, Monday through Friday. On-street parking will continue to be free after 6 pm during the week and all day on weekends and statutory holidays.

  • Paid parking will still be required for off-street municipal parking lots and parkades.
  • On-street parking is not permitted on Oshawa streets between the hours of 2 am and 6 am, from December 1 to April 1.
  • In addition to the 2 am to 6 am winter seasonal parking regulations, vehicles parked on Oshawa streets at any time while salting/snow clearing is underway maybe ticketed and/or towed.
