We have, time and again, pointed out the affinity of drivers with Durham poles – and yet again one was hit late last month.
It remains to be seen if this will be the last pole hit of 2023.
Durham Police yesterday said a concealed firearm was located tucked into a male’s sock and pantleg after he was arrested for impaired operation of a vehicle.
On Saturday, November 25 at about 12:15 am, members of Central East Division observed a motor vehicle that appeared to have collided with a hydro pole in the area of Mary Street North and Adelaide Avenue East in Oshawa.
Officers approached the vehicle and observed a male in the driver’s seat. The male was assisted out of the vehicle and treated for minor injuries. He appeared to be impaired by alcohol and was arrested . A search of the male revealed a concealed firearm in the male’s pantleg and sock. The firearm was safely removed and seized by police, said the police.
The 24-year old from Oshawa was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
Anyone with new information about this incident is asked to contact the Cst. Crichton of Central East Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 3019.
