Investigation into bloom in graffiti along Ajax waterfront

The Town of Ajax yesterday announced that it has received many reports of graffiti along the Ajax waterfront and nearby trail network.

Town staff are aware of the situation and have conducted a visual inspection to identify all of the individual markings for removal, said a town statement.

It said due to the increase of tagging, the town is working with Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) who have opened a formal investigation on this matter. Once the investigation is complete, the town’s contractor will begin the removal process, which will be carried out and completed as quickly as possible.

DRPS will be increasing their presence along the waterfront to help ensure residents and visitors can continue to enjoy the space in a safe and welcoming setting, it added.

The town did not elaborate on the type of graffiti it has encountered.

To report other instances of graffiti, contact Town of Ajax Operations staff at Operations@ajax.ca or 905-683-2951. Residents may also report graffiti and other issues such as litter, other acts of vandalism and more, online or via the Town’s free mobile application – AppJAX.
